The National Human Rights Commission has directed the UP Police to conduct a discrete inquiry into the recent recovery of a large number of human skulls from a pond near the Aligarh district jail. It has asked the state DGP to get the inquiry conducted by an officer not below the rank of DIG and submit a report within a month. The NHRC passed the directive on May 26 acting on an online complaint filed a lawyer,Gaurav Agarwal. In Aligarh,Additional District Magistrate (City) Shailendra Singh,who is currently investigating the matter,however,said the NHRC order has still not reached him.
