Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today hinted at constituting a committee to recommend points for development of Muslims in wake of Sachar Committee and Ranganath Mishra commission recommendations. He was speaking during the anniversary function of a magazine in Lucknow.
We admit that Muslims are backward in education and social sector. It has been established by the reports of Sachar Committee and Ranganath Mishra commission. We will take steps for their upliftment, said Akhilesh. He also saidthat a proposal to form a committee can also be considered. The proposed committee will study the recommendations of Sachar Committee and Ranganath Mishra commission and will suggest steps to be taken for the upliftment of the Muslim community. The committee may have government officials and representation from the Muslim community.
The proposal for constituting such committee came from Additional Advocate General,Zafaryab Jilani. It has been established that Muslims are backward and the state government is serious about their development. Thus, there is no harm in forming a committee for suggestions, said Jilani.
Akhilesh said that the state government will soon recruit Urdu teachers and translators. He also assured that power supply during holy month of Ramzan will be improved. Development in Old City will also be done on priority. I understand that Old City has been neglected by the previous government. It will now be developed at par with other areas, the CM said.
He also mentioned the state governments plan for providing financial assistance of Rs 30,000 to Muslim girls after passing high school and inclusion of Urdu language in the computers and tablets to be distributed by the state government.
Later, while releasing a Urdu poetry book written by Vice-Chancellor of Kanshiram Urdu Arabi Farsi University Anees Ansari, the Chief Minister said the name of the institute will be changed soon. It will be named after an eminent personality who was also a renowned expert in Urdu and Persian. Presently, the university is named after a person who was ignorant in Urdu and Persian. We have taken some suggestions and it will be done soon, he said. Most likely the state government has zeroed in on the name of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti of Ajmer for renaming the university which was named after BSP founder Kanshiram by Mayawati.

Qureshi created ripples when he remarked: When there was firing at Babri Masjid during the regime of Mulayam,it was a general opinion in Congress to sack him but I was the lone voice who defended him. In Babri Masjids history Mulayams name will be written with golden letters.
