Though the Vakola police registered a case of molestation of the minor girl, activists from Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad protested against the alleged brutality at the police's hands. (File Photo)The Agra police arrested two brothers, who work as security guards, for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl at her house on Tuesday afternoon. The girl was reportedly rescued by local residents after her six-year-old sister ran out of the house, crying for help.
The police said the accused, aged 24 and 22, saw the girl and her six-year-old sister returning home from school around noon and approached them by claiming to know their father. The two, who work at a private firm nearby, said they were hungry and asked the elder sister for some food.
The officer in charge of the local police station said the girl asked them to accompany her to the house. “On reaching, the accused realised that there was no one else in the house as the girls’ parents and elder brother had gone out for work. They then gang-raped her in the kitchen after stuffing her mouth with a thin cloth,” the officer said, adding that the two were inebriated when the incident took place.
The police said that when the younger girl went to the kitchen and realised that her sister was in trouble, she ran out of the house, shouting for help. Angry local residents then rushed to the house and beat up the accused before handing them over to the police, officers said.
In her statement, the survivor said the accused sought water on reaching the house and consumed liquor before sexually assaulting her.
The officer said, “The brothers hail from Farrukhabad district. Based on the survivor’s statement, they have been arrested and booked under section 70 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.”
Suraj Kumar Rai, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Agra, said more sections will be included in the First Information Report (FIR) after they receive the girl’s medical examination report. “We will make sure that the girl gets justice within one month and will ask the investigating officer to file the chargesheet early. We have clinching evidence against the accused,” he added.
Earlier, the girl’s father claimed that his wife and daughter had to wait at the local government hospital for over six hours to get the medical examination done as no doctor was present there. “I will look into the allegation. Action will certainly be taken if the complaint is found to be true,” said Arun Srivastava, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Agra.
