Newly crowned World Pro billiards champion Pankaj Advani,billiards maestro Geet Sethi,talented players Dhruv Sitwala and former Asian champion Devendra Joshi,all emerged winners in their respective last-eight stage matches to secure a berth for themselves in the semi-finals of the senior billiards in the Indian National Billiards & Snooker Championships 2009.

The event is being held at Hotel Clarks Shiraz,Agra.

Now,in the semi-finals,Dhruv Sitwala will face Geet Sethi while Pankaj Advani will play against Devendra Joshi. In the quarter-final clashes,Dhruv Sitwala of PSPB outclassed Alok Kumar,also of PSPB by 4-1,Geet Sethi of Gujarat defeated Rupesh Shah 4-2,Pankaj Advani of PSPB beat B Bhaskar of Karnataka 4-2 while Devendra Joshi of PSPB beat Ashok Shandilya of Railways 4-1.

In the qualifying rounds of the seniors snooker which commenced on Thursday,190 cueists from all over India were vying for the 10 vacant spots in the main draw of the men’s senior snooker event.

Geet Sethi (Guj) beat Rupesh Shah: 4-2 (150(139)-41,91-150(150),150(132)-140,92-150,150(129)-53,151-89);

Pankaj Advani (PSPB) beat B Bhaskar (Ktk): 4-2 (150-84,152(152)-26,42-152(108),71-150(106),150(110)-31,152-76);

Devendra Joshi (PSPB) beat Ashok Shandilya (Rly): 4-1 (152(109)-126,57-150,151-122,152-20,153-37).
