Act 2

Mahima plays Babloo Srivastav’s moll in her comeback film.

In a biopic being made for television,Mahima Chaudhry will be playing Archana Sharma, the crafty conduit of jailed gangster Babloo Srivastav. Rahul Deo plays Babloo in this Shashi Ranjan-directed film.

“The film series is tentatively titled Mafia Queens, and I play this over ambitious small-town girl, who goes a long way via Mumbai, ganging up with this kidnap kingpin,” says Mahima,in Lucknow on Sunday. “The role excited me for the immense scope it offers of donning a number of disguises, putting on various dialects, etc. We have shot about an hour’s length so far,” said, laughing away her lost chance of being seen away with the likes of Shahrukh Khan,co-star in her debut film Pardes. “Oh,they all want to work with girls half their age,” she giggles.

But in between, there is Chhote Miyan on Colors.

“Motherhood has made me so fond of kids. If anything,I look at my sabbatical as highly fulfilling. But now that my daughter Aranya has turned 4,I will take up acting offers as and when they come my way,” said the actress, who kept appearing in commercials even when there were no roles to play in films.

“My favourite option in investment is real estate as it is simpler to understand than stocks,” said Mahima, who has been appointed brand ambassador by the Lucknow-based Magnum financial group as they foray into infrastructure. “The food, the clothes with chikan and zardozi, the places and people…there is so much I love about Lucknow and I just keep emulating its people for the sheer sweetness in the way they talk,” said Mahima.
