Three men, including a property dealer and a local businessman, were arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur on Saturday for allegedly abducting and raping a minor girl, the police said. The minor informed her parents about the incident after managing to escape from the shop where the accused had confined her, the police added.
The police identified the accused as Manoj Kumar, Ramakant Shukla, and Ashwani Kumar and said that they were produced before the concerned court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
According to police, the minor, accompanied by her family members, reached the police station on Friday morning and reported the incident. The minor’s mother lodged a complaint stating that her daughter had left home on Thursday evening for some work. While returning, she got delayed and allegedly met Ramakant Shukla, an acquaintance.
Shukla allegedly offered to drop her home, and trusting him, the girl accepted the offer, the complaint states. However, instead of taking her to her house, he allegedly took her to the shop of another accused, Manoj. Ashwani was already present there, the complaint said.
According to the complaint, the three men allegedly sexually assaulted the girl inside the shop. Later, the minor managed to escape from the shop and reached a nearby house where she sought a woman’s help.
The police registered a case on various charges, including gangrape and kidnapping.
The medical examination of the minor has been completed, and the report is awaited. The police have also collected DNA samples of the accused and the minor for forensic analysis.
