2 killed as temple barricade collapses

Two men were killed and three injured after the barricading collapsed at Lodheshwar Mahadeva temple in Ram Nagar area of Barabanki district in the wee hours of Sunday.

Two men were killed and three injured after the barricading collapsed at Lodheshwar Mahadeva temple in Ram Nagar area of Barabanki district in the wee hours of Sunday. Police said the incident took place around 3 am,when 4 lakh people had gathered at the temple on Mahashivratri.

Barabanki Additional SP Om Prakash Singh said the barricading - which had been put up for crowd management - fell because of excess force. He said some people also tried to jump the barricades,causing them to collapse. Singh said the collapse of the barricades injured some persons,and that there was no stampede because of the incident.
