The opposition BJP on Friday lambasted the Delhi government for the increasing number of crimes against women in the capital. Senior Congress leaders were heckled at the hospital where the child was first admitted.

BJP president Vijay Goel mocked Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, who had on Thursday released a tagline for the city — Dildaar Delhi (Magnanimous Delhi).

“This is not Dildaar Dilli, but Balaatkar Dilli. Instead of taking concrete steps, the CM is shirking her responsibility,” Goel said.

Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj also expressed concern over the brutal rape .

“Nothing much seems to have changed since the December 16 gangrape. Police are still failing to protect women in the capital,” she said.

“We wanted reforms and institutional changes in policing and have communicated this to the Union government. There have been changes in the system since the December 16 incident, but it will take time for the mindset of people to change,” Women and Child Minister Kiran Walia said, defending the government.
