The Congress on Sunday conveyed to its ally Trinamool

Congress that attacks on its supporters and forcible occupation of the party’s offices would not be tolerated.

Speaking at a function to observe the 58th foundation Day of the West Bengal Chhatra Parishad,Shakeel Ahmed,AICC member in charge of West Bengal, said attacks on Congress workers would not be silently tolerated.

Ahmed said whenever any such incident happened, the state unit of the Congress must stand by the party supporter and the central leadership would also extend its full support.

Senior Congress leader Jagdish Tytler said he would raise the issue in the central committee meeting of the Congress. He said the Congress was a 126-year-old party and not dependent on anybody else.

The state Congress president had earlier written to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the attacks on party workers and forcible occupation of its offices issues but she did not respond.

Similar allegations were made by Mausam Benajir Noor, the state Youth Congress president.

Deepa Dasmunsi said some people thought the Congress party would go on tolerating such incidents while Mausam Noor criticised leaders who deserted the Congress and joined TMC.

Some Congress leaders such as Pradip Bhattacharya demanded that the earlier office of the Chhatra Parishad at Mahajati Sadan should be given back to the Congress. During the Left Rule, the party has to move out of the place.
