Renovation at BJP’s Bengal HQ leaves Dilip Ghosh, Rahul Sinha without cubicles, state president says IT cell being set up
There is a rumour among the party workers that the BJP no longer considers Dilip Ghosh and Rahul Sinha as important leaders.

While a renovation has been undertaken at the West Bengal headquarters of the BJP situated in Kolkata’s 6 Muralidhar Sen Lane, the conversion of two cubicles, used by former state presidents Dilip Ghosh and Rahul Sinha, has raised eyebrows among the rank and files.
Ghosh and Sinha’s cubicles will now be converted to accommodate the party’s IT cell for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
While nobody wished to go on record, a senior BJP leader of the state on condition of anonymity said the move is to displace the two leaders. In fact, there is a rumour among the party workers that the BJP no longer considers Ghosh and Sinha as important leaders.
The BJP leader added, “Both are senior leaders of the party who helped strengthen the organisation in West Bengal. Dilip Ghosh is still a party MP and had fought against Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress fiercely. It is undesired to see their cubicles at the state BJP headquarters being renovated to set up the IT cell’s office. They deserve more respect. They should not be displaced like this.”
BJP state president and party MP Sukanta Majumdar, however, denied such allegations and said it is a routine renovation work which has been undertaken to make space for the office of the IT Cell.
“There is no question of removing anyone from their cubicles or offices. No one is being displaced. There is no such intention. Even my cubicle will be renovated for this purpose. This is being done to set up the IT cell’s office in view of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. There is no other reason for this move,” said Majumdar.
Both Ghosh and Sinha were not available for their comments on the development.
The cubicles of both Ghosh and Sinha are on the first floor of the party office where they hold meetings with party workers and leaders. It may be noted that a new party office has been set up in Salt Lake where offices of both the leaders have been earmarked.
However, entry of party workers is restricted in the Salt Lake office and prior permission has to be taken. However, there is no such restriction at the state BJP headquarters, where party workers can meet their leaders without any hassle.
