Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has slammed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the eve of the first phase of polls in Bengal. The CM,who praised the PM recently, said Singh was not a successful Prime Minister and had no single successful initiative to showcase in his tenure.
Making a sarcastic comment,Bhattacharjee said: His only success is signing the nuclear deal with the US. The CM was speaking at an election rally in Howrah on Wednesday evening.
Look at the economic front. The Centre is claiming that inflation is dropping, but prices of essential commodities are rising continuously, added the chief minister.
Criticising Manmohan Singh and his pro-US policies,Bhattacharjee said Communist China is the role model for development. China has shown the world what is development. US is fearing China now and India is begging to the US, said the CM.
When I met Manmohan Singh,I told him that Bush is standing between you and me. When Americans are driving Bush away from the power, you are calling him in, the chief minister said, referring to a meeting he had with the PM in Delhi before the deal was finalised.
The chief minister also asserted that neither the BJP nor the Congress would be able to form the government at the Centre.
The role of the Left parties will be very important in forming the government. Already Lalu Prasad Yadav and Sharad Pawar are saying that there will be no government without the Left in Delhi. I have information that even NDA partners are waiting to leave it and are maintaining close contact with us, he added. What will Nitish Kumar and his JD(U) do after the elections? asked the chief minister.
He also questioned the integrity of the Trinamool and its alliance with the Congress in Bengal. Is there a guarantee that Trinamool will not go back to BJP after the polls? The Trinamool is trying to spread anarchy in Bengal and I do not know why Congress is with them. Actually Congress is trying to survive in Bengal with their help, said the CM.
Though the CM was silent on the Nandigram firing,on Singur he said after the elections the state government would announce a new industrial project to be set up on the land, where once stood the Nano factory.
We will prove after the polls that despite opposition,we will continue with industrialisation, said the CM.
