Following the Maoist attack on Sankrail police station in West Midnapore district today, the ruling CPM once again accused the Trinamool of working with the Maoists to “oust the CPM from power”.

CPM spokesman Md. Selim alleged the Trinamool Congress was working in the same direction as the Maoists. “What the Maoists are doing in the Jangalmahal area, the Trinamool is doing in urban areas. It is creating a law and order problem in urban areas,” said Selim.

Shyamal Chakraborty,another CPM leader,went a step ahead.

“For the first time in the world,a Maoist outfit in India has its representative in the government,” he said, citing cases of Nepal and China where Maoists fought against the state but had no representative in the government at the time of their struggle.

Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee,on the other hand, said the state government should act swiftly to rescue the abducted police officers.
