TMCP members push man off running train

Members of Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP),student wing of Trinamool Congress,allegedly pushed a passenger’s relative from a moving train when they were asked to vacate reserved seats late on Sunday night.

A pregnant Guria Khatoon and her husband Sarfaraz Alam reportedly boarded the S6 coach of Kanchenkanya Express from Aluabari Road Station,near Siliguri,around 10 pm. They found their seats — numbers 17 and 20 — were occupied by TMCP students.

When they asked the students to vacate the seats,they hurled abuses at them and started a brawl. Guria’s brother Taleb Hussain then got on to the train when it had already started moving.

“They beat up Taleb and about 500 m from the station pushed him out of the train. The GRP officials were present there but did not take any action,” said an eyewitness.

Guria pulled the chain and stopped the train. A badly injured Taleb was taken to Islampur Hospital.

“The miscreants were wearing badges with Mamata Banerjee’s picture and chanted slogans of Vande Mataram and Mamata Banerjee Zindabad,” said Sarfaraz. The students from various districts were on their way to Kolkata to attend the TMCP Foundation Day celebrations tomorrow.

Soon after the incident,locals demonstrated at the station and demanded the arrest of offenders,and also demanded that the Rail police bear the cost of Taleb’s treatment.

The Rail police authorities is learnt to have assured the protesters that the Malda GRP would be alerted and the miscreants would be arrested.

They also said that the Rail police will pay for Taleb’s treatment.

Later,however,it was found out that neither the offenders were booked nor the bill for CT scan,which Taleb had to undergo at Anandolok Hospital,was paid by the Rail police.
