The CPM on Friday hit back at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for threatening to take stern action against the striking transport owners, saying Trinamool Congress made a record in bandh politics when in Opposition.
We know that strike is not a solution but calling one is the last step taken by the workers. It is their right. After coming power,Mamata has changed her tune, said Leader of the Opposition Surya Kanta Mishra in Kolkata.
Referring to CITUs July 31 transport strike for fare hike,Mishra said: The government should resolve the issue through discussions. But the government is averse to finding any solution. Moreover,Mamata Banerjees attitude appears to wage a war against the working class of the state.
Meanwhile, the Left Front held a meeting to discuss the strike called by its trade union,CITU. Sources said some of the alliance partners questioned the decision of the CITU for calling a strike without consulting them. We cannot comment on the strike as the strike call was not our decision. Its the decision of a trade union. All Left trade unions and another trade unions will meet and will convey our decision to us, Bose said.
