Some members of the outfit gathered at Harish Chatterjee Street in south Kolkata and squatted on the road, not far from Banerjee’s residence at Kalighat. The police, however, removed the protesters from the area.
While some were dragged from the protest site, others were physically carried by policemen. The protesters tried to breach the barricade which was put up as a safety measure by the police.
Some agitators were detained by the police. “For the last five years, we have not received our salaries. We came here today to protest against this and urge CM Mamata Banerjee to clear our dues,” said one of the protesters. There was no reaction from the government on this agitation and their allegations. Also, members of SFI and DYFI took out a protest rally in the city against the National Education Policy.
