Continuing his good form,top ranked Saurav Ghosal brushed aside the challenge of compatriot Ravi Dixit in straight games to advance to the semifinals of the Senior National Squash Championship at the Delhi Gymkhana Club. Ghosal won 11-0 11-3 11-6. Other favourites also advanced to the last four with Siddharth Suchde beating Naresh Kumar 11-2 11-8 11-6,Gaurav Nandrajog rallying to win against Sandeep Jangra 11-7 7-11 9-11 11-8 14-12 while Harinder Pal Sandhu won 11-9 11-8 11-6 against Vikas Jangra.

In the women’s section,top ranked Joshna Chinappa defeated Pankhuri Malhotra 11-6 11-3 11-6 in the quarterfinals while Anaka Alankamony won against Shria Khatri 11-8 11-4 11-2.

Indian sweep in wrestling
Indians produced an impressive performance in Greco-Roman Style competition,winning six out of seven gold medals on offer at the Commonwealth Wrestling Championship. Rajender Kumar (55 Kg),Ravinder Singh (60 Kg),Gurbinder Singh (66 Kg),Manoj Kumar (84 Kg),Ashok Kumar (96 Kg) and Dharmender Dalal (120 Kg) won for India while South Africa’s Addinall Richard (74 Kg) managed to win the remaining one gold. India also won the overall Team Championship in Greco Roman Style competition.

Huge wins for Delhi,Rashid
Carding eight-under 64,Rashid Khan led the Delhi A team to a comprehensive win at the West Bengal Inter-State Championship at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club. The team totalled six-under for the week,nine shots better than Haryana A. In the individual standings,Rashid took his fifth title this season with an 11-shot win after totalling 11-under 277.

French FA backs Domenech
Raymond Domenech has been confirmed as France coach and will lead his team at next years World Cup in South Africa. French federation president Jean-Pierre Escalettes said Domenech received a vote of confidence. The coach has been criticised for Frances poor results during its qualifying campaign.
