Trinamool Congress veteran and former West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee on Thursday told a special CBI court that he was minister and not a recruiter and that he had “absolutely no role in the hiring process” of teaching and non-teaching staff in the state-run schools.

“I was not the appointing authority. I was the minister. I do not support irregularities and won’t support such things in future as well. The School Service Commission and education boards have their own set of rules that they follow,” he said.
