A reshuffle in the top leadership of state Congress is on the cards as party high command is likely to decide soon on the replacements of West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee president Manas Bhunia and Congress Legislative Party leader in the state assembly Abu Hena.
Both these leaders were sworn in as ministers in Mamata Banerjee cabinet on May 20. In Congress,we follow the one person- one post principle and both Bhunia and Hena have offered to resign from their post. Congress high command will take a decision on this issue soon, Shakeel Ahmed,AICC general secretary told The Indian Express over phone.
Sources in the Congress said the party high command has accepted the leaders resignation but it will be officially declared only when the party selects other leaders for their posts.
The names of Congress leaders making rounds for the top post of the party in the state are Behrampore MP Adhir Chowdhury and Alipur Duar MLA Deboprasad Roy. While Roy is a senior Congress leader with considerable organisational experience and close to 10 Janpath,Adhir has huge support base in Murshidabad, unsurpassed by any other Congress leader in the state.
