People have risen against Maoists: Buddha

Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee urged the people of the state to come out on the roads in thousands against the Maoist.

Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Thursday urged the people of the state to come out on the roads in thousands against the Maoist.

Daring the ultras to come out from their hiding,Bhattacharjee said the “Trinamool-Maoist nexus” would not last long. He was speaking at a rally of CPM-backed para teachers’ association in Kolkata. “Now as people have stood up against the Maoists, they cannot stand against the Left Front. I will see how long they can hide,” thundered the chief minister.

He accused the Trinamool of taking the help of Maoists to increase its political influence in the areas where they have no base. “The Trinamool Congress tells Maoists — ‘you save us and we will save you’. We’ll see who saves whom,” said Bhattacharjee.

The chief minister who has seen the Maoist problem growing in the state said that his administration is doing the best to contain the menace. “However, the problem cannot be restricted only by police. This is a political problem and there has to be a political solution to it,” he added.

Comparing the ongoing Maoist violence in the Junglemahal area to the Naxal movement witnessed by the state in the 1970s,the chief minister said the Left Front had successfully dealt with the problem then. The Naxal ideology was rejected by people then and similarly now too the people are raising voices against the Maoists,he added.
