Paying guests ‘rape’ housewife in Kolkata

Around a month ago,when the woman was on the terrace to dry clothes,this group of five youths allegedly caught her,gagged her and took her to a corner of the terrace and raped her. They also allegedly recorded the act on a mobile phone and later threatened to put it on the internet if she told anyone about it.

The woman did not tell her husband,who works at a tailoring shop,about the incident,the police added.

On Saturday,when the woman was at the terrace again,the youths were reportedly drinking and passed lewd comments at her. This time she is said to have she called up her husband and also told some locals about it.

Her husband rushed home and sensing trouble,three of the five managed to flee,said the police.

The other two were caught by the locals and handed over to Shyamapukur Police Station officials. “We have detained the duo for questioning and the name of one Sushovan Purna has come up. He is absconding at the moment but we are sure we will find him soon,” said a senior official of Shyamapukur PS.

He said only Purna has been accused of rape and that it was not a case of gangrape.

Sources in the police also said that the owner of the house would also be summoned to get the details of the main accused. It has also been learnt that the woman would be sent to RG Kar hospital for a medical test on Saturday.
