Parents demand explanation of Madhyamik goof-up

Parents and guardians of students appearing for the Madhyamik examination on Tuesday staged a demonstration infront of West Bengal Board of Secondary Education headquarter demanding explanation of the question paper goof-up at two schools in Kolkata — Andrea Association High School and National High School for Boys.

Administrator of the Board,Kalyanmoy Ganguli said,“We will request the students not to worry and appear for the rest of the examination peacefully.”

Rights bodies want jail officials punished for inmates’ ‘torture’

Kolkata:Human rights body on Tuesday demanded punishment for officials responsible for the condition of a Dum Dum Central Correctional Home inmate who was photographed after being allegedly stripped,beaten and handcuffed. “We demand that police officials who are responsible for the poor condition of Bikram Mahato be punished,” Committee for Protection of Democratic Rights Secularism said.

BSF personnel ‘commits suicide’

Kalyani:A BSF jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself at the border guards’ camp in Nadia district. Police said 30-year-old Mukesh Singh,a resident of Balia in UP,shot himself with his service rifle in the wee hours of Tuesday. “Preliminary probe indicated that Singh was depressed,” said police.
