Maoists kill 3 in West Midnapore

Three persons were killed by suspected Maoists in separate incidents in West Midnapore on Friday. “It is a sign that the Maoists are desperate,” said Mukesh Kumar,Additional Superintendent of Police,Jhargram.

Shayan Pal (50),a former CPM worker,was killed on Friday night at Niguria. Kumar said Maoists dragged him out of his house and shot him dead. There were five bullet injuries in his body. The incident occurred in the village which is located only half a kilometer from the CRPF camp. The villagers alleged that the security forces did not arrive on time.

In a separate incident,labourer Bukai Murmu (22) of Bhandardaha village was also killed by suspected Maoists. On Friday Bukai left for work but did not return home. Later,the police recovered his body 2 km from his village. Kumar said that Bukai’s head had been smashed. Maoist posters were found near the body,he said.

In another incident,35-year-old Sitaram Murmu,a CPM activist,was killed on Friday night at Bandhgora village. Manoj Verma,Superintendent of Police,West Midnapore,said that Murmu was attacked by Maoists on Friday night

when he was returning home. The Maoists shot him dead. There were two bullet injuries in his body,Verma said.
