Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met Governor MK Narayanan for nearly an hour on Tuesday evening amid talks of a possible reshuffle in the state cabinet following the exit of the six Congress ministers from the government.

Mamata left the Raj Bhavan through backdoor to avoid mediapersons who were waiting for her at the front gate. She was accompanied by party MP Saugata Roy,Urban Development Minister Firad Hakim,Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee and Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee. They spent nearly 50 minutes at raj Bhavan.

Though it was stated that meeting was a “routine one”,sources said Mamata sought Governor’s appointment for swearing-in of new ministers who would fill up the berths vacated by Congress ministers last week.

Meanwhile,Mamata is learnt to have shortlisted the names of his party MLAs who would be accommodated in her cabinet. Even though Trinamool Congress maintained silence on the ministerial hopefuls, several names are doing rounds. The core committee of the party is said to have shortlisted the names of Tapas Roy,Srikanta Mahato,Tamonash Ghosh,Rajib Banerjee,Sovondeb Chattopadhyay,ATM Abdullah. The final decision, however, will be taken by Mamata.
