After receiving specific inputs from the Central Intelligence Bureau and the intelligence wing of the Railway Police Force (RPF),the railway authorities have issued a red alert in Malda division from November 25 to 27.
According to a senior railway official,the reports reveal that a few stations of Malda division are on terror radar. The names of stations including Malda and Bhagalpur which are located in close proximity with the Bangladesh border,have been mentioned in the reports.
Specific information from the intelligence wings of RPF mention that a group of ultras from Bangladesh might launch an attack in the stations, said M K Mathur,DRM,Malda division.
A senior district police officer said: As per the intelligence inputs,two members of HuJI were trying to sneak into the country with a huge quantity of explosives. They have been located at the Malda-Bangladesh border. But after the arrest of three HuJI militants in Kolkata,they retreated.
Even so,they are looking for a second chance to enter the state,he added.
Bhuban Mondal,superintendent of police,Malda said: There are possibilities of a terror attack in several parts of Malda by Bangladeshi ultras. We were told to strengthen the vigil in the Malda-Bangladesh border and asked to seal the border from November 25-November 27.
B Mohan,Chief Security Commissioner of Railways,said: The reports have been circulated in all major stations of North Bengal.
A notice has been issued to step up security and the railways have installed CCTVs and deployed additional 20 to 30 RPF personnel at the stations,said Mathur. Even though we have been asked to keep vigil from November 25 to November 27,we will continue the process for a few more days.
