Mahato gets jail custody in murder case

The ACJM court at Jhargram on Thursday rejected the bail plea of Chhatradhar Mahato in connection with the Prabir Mahato murder case in Lalgarh.

The ACJM court at Jhargram on Thursday rejected the bail plea of Chhatradhar Mahato in connection with the Prabir Mahato murder case in Lalgarh. The judge,Seikh Md.Rezza,remanded the tribal leader in jail custody till November 5.

On October 18,the same court had remanded Mahato in police custody in the case in which Prabir,a CPM activist,was killed by members of the People’s Committee against Police Atrocities,an outfit led by Mahato,on June 14 at Dharampur village in Lalgarh.

On June 24,Prabir’s brother Amiya had lodged a complaint with West Midnapore SP,alleging he was killed by PCAPA members of Lalgarh. The police registered a murder case against Mahato and 31 others on August 14.
