CPM leader shot dead at Salboni
A 33-year-old CPM leader was shot dead in Salboni in West Midnapore district early on Tuesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Binod Mahato,a resident of Jamsudi village in Salboni. “According to witnesses,a dozen armed Maoists kidnapped Mahato from his residence. His body was found on the road stretch between Pirakata and Kalsibhanga forest today,” said a senior police officer.

No jobs available,CU techies stage protest
Demanding that they get jobs after completion of their courses,over 200 students of the BTech courses of the University of Calcutta protested at Rajabajar Science College on Tuesday. Even as university authorities said they cannot ensure jobs for every student,CU vice-chancellor Suranjan Das said he has been approaching companies asking them to hire CU engineering graduates.
