Trinamool-CITU clash leaves one injured in Haldia
A clash between members of the CITU and Trinamool’s trade union in Haldia left one Trinamool activist injured on Monday. Zakarian Mahajan received a bullet injury and was taken to Kolkata later. Additional SP,Haldia,Niladri Chakraborty said the clash took place outside the Tata Chemical factory. The CITU had called for a strike in Tata Chemical factory on Monday — a move the Trinamool trade union had opposed. CITU activists attacked the Trinamool camp,following which both sides hurled bombs at each other,said the police.

Forces seize syringes from Maoist den
The joint forces today claimed to have recovered a heap of ampules and syringes from Talpukuria near Belpahari and Lakkhanpur forest area. “We had information that Kishenji took shelter at Talpukuria after the gunbattle on March 23,” said Vijay Raman,Special,DG,CRPF. Meanwhile,PCAPA convener Asit Mahato said: “On Monday,they killed a 60-year-old PCAPA activist near Lalgarh,” he said.

50% seats for women in panchayats
KOLKATA: The government plans to reserve 50 per cent of seats in panchayats for women. Anisur Rahman,state’s Minister for Panchayats and Rural Development,will make an announcement to this effect on Tuesday.
