Called ‘Matri Seva’, the software will be hosted on a Microsoft cloud-based server and will be easily accessible to all 12 centres of Vivek Sanjivani. It can be used for primary healthcare, mental healthcare, follow-up visits, management of chronic diseases, medication management, health education and other clinical services.
Jayanta Mukhopadhyay, who is the lead researcher of the project at IIT-KGP, said, “Matri Seva is an extension of IIT-KGP’s existing open-source telemedicine system iMedixcare which is dedicated to community service of the community at Vivek Sanjivani centres.”
“The pandemic showed us where we stand as a nation when it comes to a healthcare system. iMedixcare has served the IIT-Kharagpur community by providing emergency consultancy services from physicians,” he added.
Swami Divyasukhananda, coordinator of the Vivek Sanjivani initiative, said, “The telemedicine service directly provides improved access, cost-efficiency and quality healthcare services to patients from marginalised groups at their homes in\ three districts.”
