Drug peddler arrested

A dreaded drug smuggler was arrested from Taltala police station area on Friday night. A lookout notice had been issued against him by the Narcotics Control Bureau.

A dreaded drug smuggler was arrested from Taltala police station area on Friday night. A lookout notice had been issued against him by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). An NCB official on Saturday confirmed that the drug smuggler,Mahammad Shamim,who had earlier fled from their custody was arrested today from Taltala police station area and he was produced at Bankshall court.

According to the police,a resident of Indad Ali Lane lodged a complaint with the police last week alleging that his laptop has been stolen from his residence. Police investigating into the case arrested Shamim for stealing the laptop,from his rented house on Indad Ali Lane on Friday.

At the time of verifying his criminal antecedents,police came to know that he was a dreaded drug smuggler and NCB has already issued a lookout notice against him,who were then informed about Shamim’s arrest.

On Saturday,NCB officials confirmed that Shamim was arrested for smuggling charas from Kolkata. Charas weighing over three kilograms was recovered from him. He was a member of a cross-broder drug smuggling racket.
