Denmark calling for Chowbey

Kalyan Chowbey, the 31-year-old goalkeeper who represented Mumbai FC in the last I-League,has decided to try his luck abroad. He will set off for Denmark for a trial in the Danish second division club Brondby FC. He has also decided not to sign for any Indian club during the inter-state transfer in June. He will wait instead till October when the second transfer window opens. But he hopes to qualify in the trail and get into the Brondby squad.

Chowbey earlier had an opportunity to play for a German third division club in 2002. He had crossed the first hurdle by qualifying in the selection trial. But lack of a work permit shattered his dream to play in Bundesliga. He has learnt his lessons the hard way and wants to make full use of the latest opportunity.

“My agent Peter Hassel, who is based in the United States,is impressed with my show in the I-League and has arranged for a selection trial at Brondby in August. So,I have decided not to sign for any Indian club till August,” Chowbey told The Indian Express.

Asked about the work permit,he assured that this time there would be no problems.
