‘Dead’ baby springs back to life

A baby girl,declared dead at birth,was being taken away for cremation when she cried back to life in Howrah Friday,leading to tension at the private nursing home where she was delivered. The baby,born to Rinku Bhagat at Bansal Nursing Home at Golabari in Howrah. A crowd gathered in front of the nursing home,which protested against the alleged negligence of attending doctors,creating tension,the police said.

Seven policemen injured in clash

Seven policemen were Friday injured in a scuffle which broke out when they had gone to to lift a railway blockade by daily passengers at Sonarpur station. Police said the passengers ransacked station premises demanding more local trains to Sealdah. Local train services from Sealdah to Canning and others in South 24-Parganas district were disrupted as a result of the blockade,railway officials said.
