The Calcutta University (CU) has modified the examination rules at the undergraduate level providing scope to the students to appear in the papers which they have failed along with next year’s papers.

Before sitting for Part III,the final year of the undergraduate course,a student has to clear all his first year and second year papers. Pass course (general) students have to pass in one of the three optional papers to sit for part II.

The university, however, has increased the pass marks to 30 in case of general papers. At present the students have to secure 25 per cent in all the three papers put together to qualify in the general papers, but from now they will have to secure 30 per cent in each pass paper to sail through.

The UG Council of the university also decided that one mark grace will be given to each student for Honours if he has one mark less than 50 per cent,55 per cent and 60 per cent and 40 per cent and 45 per cent for pass or general stream. But the additional mark will be mentioned in the marksheet of the student.
