Commuters beat up a Bengal Police jawan, who allegedly pushed a man from a moving train on Thursday evening. The incident occurred around 6.15 pm on the Ranaghat-Lalgola local when the man,who was later identified as Shabir Sheikh, got into the ladies compartment.
Madhusudan Chatterjee, the jawan, was already present in the compartment and there was a scuffle between the two. Locals said Sheikh was then pushed from the compartment by Chatterjee in between Bethwari and Sonadanga stations.

He was found near the tracks and although badly hurt,he was still alive. He has been admitted to the Bethwari hospital with injuries. The condition of the jawan is said to be critical. He was reportedly undergoing training at Barrackpore.
