Cold wave back in Bengal

Chilly westerly winds sweeping across south Bengal caused the mercury to dip across the region on Friday,bringing back the cold spell after more than a week.

Chilly westerly winds sweeping across south Bengal caused the mercury to dip across the region on Friday,bringing back the cold spell after more than a week.The MeT Office said cold conditions would prevail in the next 48 hours with the temperature likely to fall further.

The minimum in Panagarh was nine degrees,followed by Krishnagar 9.5 deg C,Sriniketan 10.2 deg C and Dum Dum and Burdwan 14.5 deg C each.

Temperatures also dipped in Bankura,Purulia and Birbhum districts. According to the weatherman,a western disturbance aided the chilly winds to re-enter West Bengal through Jharkhand and brought in the cold wave from Jammu and Kashmir,Himachal Pradesh,Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
