The CID has named four police officers and held them responsible for helping the CPM in connection with Garbeta skeleton recovery case. Former CPM minister Sushanta Ghosh is behind bars in connection with the case.
In its report submitted to DGP Naparajeet Mukherje,CID has named four officers who held various positions in Midnapore district in 2002 like OC of Keshpur Debashis Roy,OC of Garbeta Mahakash Roy Choudhury,Additional SP (Midnapore) Ganji Anil Sreenivas and DSP Mrinalkanti Majumdar.
We have submitted our report to the DGP on Wednesday. The officers will be suspended for dereliction of duty and for helping the CPM leaders in their criminal act.
At present,Mahakash Choudhury is posted in Enforcement Branch (North Bengal),Debashish Roy is posted as CI (Kanthi) in East Midnapore,Mrinalkanti Majumdar is posted as ASP (Kandi) in Murshidabad while G Sreenivas is posted as SP,Telecommunication.
In August,the CID had interrogated the four officers in connection with the case. During the investigation,we have got clues and we have collected evidence against some senior police officers of the period when the incident took place. Apart from Sushanta Ghosh,we have arrested some other persons who are also accused in the case and we have got certain leads from them, said a source in the CID.
Former CPM minister and sitting MLA from Garbeta in West Midnapore district,Sushanta Ghosh,was arrested in August in connection with the recovery of human skeletons close to his house. At least five human skeletons were found in Garbeta on June 4.
