A DIRECTOR of a chit found company was found dead at his residence at Chunchura in Hooghly district on Sunday night.
The deceased,Jayanta Sarkar (48),was one of the directors of Hello India chit fund company,said the police. While Jayantas wife Papiya Sarkar has alleged that her husband was killed by three depositors,the police said they have found strangulation marks on the body and are investigating the matter
According to the FIR lodged at the Chunchura police station by Papiya Sarkar on Monday,three men,Abhijit Saha and Abdullah Rashid from Coochbehar and Biplab Biswas from Haringhata,killed her husband and wrapped the body in a cloth before departing around 3 am. It is learnt that investors had been hounding Jayanta for refund of their dues.
Chunchura SP Tanmoy Roychowdhury said,quoting the victims wife,that Sarkar had repaid most of the amount taken from the depositors. He said that Sarkar,who also owned a factory at Howrah and a office in Kolkata,was trying to sell the two premises to raise funds to repay money to depositors.
