Chinese envoy to India,Zhang Yan,on Friday refused to comment on whether the condition in West Bengal is conducive for business. The political condition of a state is its internal matter. Investors only hope for a good environment in terms of policies and infrastructure. I am a promoter of trade between the two countries and I want to improve economic cooperation and would not like to say anything that would be negative to trade interests, he said. Speaking on the sidelines of an event organised by Bharat Chamber of Commerce on China-India business opportunities and challenges,Yan said West Bengals geographic position,good climate,rich natural resources and huge manpower were definite plus points. The largest Chinese community in Kolkata can act as a bridge to facilitate trade relations between the two countries, he said.
…UK talks green initiatives
UK minister of state for energy and climate change Gregory Barker on Friday urged the state government to emphasize on setting up less carbon-emitting industries considering the rapidly changing climate in the Indian subcontinent and offered all sorts of assistance in attracting more investment in the renewal energy sector. Along with a delegation,Barker on Friday met state Finance Minister Amit Mira at Writers Buildings and discussed the potentiality of the state in attracting investment in the energy sector.
