Centre told to reply by Sept 3

The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday told the Centre to file its affidavit on the petition challenging the GTA Act by September 3.

The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday told the Centre to file its affidavit on the petition challenging the GTA Act by September 3. The petition was filed by GNLF chief Subash Ghising contending that a constitutional amendment was required before introducing the GTA Act. The GTA Act was introduced without the President’s assent and it was not legal,claimed the petition. The final hearing in the case will be held on September 14.
