Maternity home ransacked after woman’s death

Burdwan:Following the death of a pregnant woman,a mob ransacked a maternity home and beat up the staff in Burdwan district on Sunday. Police said Sipra Ghosh of Bankura,Kotulpur,died during a second blood transfusion in the labour room of the private health utility in Burdwan town. Soon a mob gathered and damaged furniture and assaulted the employees present. The stillborn baby was found to be dead. Police later dispersed the crowd. Nursing home authorities claimed the death was not caused due to negligence and the woman was afflicted with low haemoglobin count. Police said the CMOH has been informed and any follow-up action would depend on the post-mortem report.

Tiger found dead in Sunderbans

Sunderbans:An adult male Royal Bengal tiger was on Sunday found dead in the forests of Sunderbans in West Bengal,forest department officials said. During patrolling,the tiger was found lying still in the Sajnekhali forest,they said,adding that when they went closer they realised that the animal was dead. No external injury marks were found on the carcass cat but blood was spotted on its nose and mouth,they said. The death could have happened due to heart attack,they said,adding that a post-portem would be done on Monday.
