Husband,in-laws held for woman’s death

Kolkata: The police Thursday arrested a man and his parents for allegedly torturing his wife to death for dowry here. Dipak Shaw and his parents were arrested in the wee hours from their Thakurpukur residence after his wife Madhumala’s father lodged a complaint that his daughter had been tortured to death for dowry,police said. Madhumala died in a city hospital Wednesday.

Man throws acid on wife,arrested

Barasat: A woman suffered burn injuries after her husband threw acid on her following a heated argument in North-24 Parganas district Thursday,police said. Tarak Sarkar had a heated argument with his wife Rupa at their house in Ruia village under Khardha police station after which he threw acid on the woman,police said. Rupa was first rushed to a nearby hospital but was referred to R G Kar Medical College Hospital in Kolkata. Meanwhile,police arrested Tarak.

Illegal gun factory unearthed,3 held

Canning: The police,on trail of three alleged kidnappers,ended up unearthing an illegal gun factory after it arrested the trio at Sonarpur on the outskirts of Kolkata. Gyan Sagar Sharma,Kali Kanta Jha and Manoj Jha were arrested after one Ramkumar Jha complained that he was kidnapped by the trio who took Rs 2.5 lakh as ransom before releasing him,police said. The arms factory was unearthed at Sharma’s residence and 11 pipeguns,one 9 mm pistol,31 cartridges and a double-barrel gun were seized,they added.
