Bharatiya Janata Party MP Dilip Ghosh on Monday moved the Calcutta High Court, seeking a change in the date of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) which is scheduled on December 24, claiming that it will clash with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kolkata for a programme.

Appearing on behalf of the BJP leader, advocate Partha Ghosh filed a petition before the division bench comprising High Court Chief Justice TS Sivagnanam and Justice Hiranmay Bhattacharyya which admitted the petition.

Speaking to the newspaper, the advocate said, “We moved the court pleading that the date for TET be changed in view of the Prime Minister’s programme on the same day. We have also prayed for adequate transport arrangements for the candidates appearing for TET whenever the examination is held. The matter will come up for hearing on December 14.”

PM Modi is likely to attend the programme at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata where about 1 lakh people will chant Bhagavad Gita together. The event is being organised by the ‘Lokkho Konthe Gitapatha Committee’, an association of three religious organisations.
