Former Trinamool youth wing leader Kuntal Ghosh at the Bankshall court in Kolkata, Thursday. Express The now expelled Trinamool Congress’ youth wing leader, Kuntal Ghosh, on Thursday alleged that the central agencies are putting pressure on him to name senior party leaders, including national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, in the West Bengal school recruitment scam case.
Ghosh, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the case, made these allegations before he was to be produced in the Bankshall court in Kolkata.
“The agency is trying to make us name our party leaders by threatening and harassing us,” said Ghosh. When asked by reporters whether Abhishek Banerjee was one of them, Ghosh said, “Yes, of course.” They are trying to drag names of all our leaders by any means, he added.
Asked about Abhishek’s rally on Wednesday where he raked up the issue of alleged harassment of Trinamool leaders by the central government through its agencies, Ghosh said, “If he says something in our support, it makes me proud. They are pressurising us but we are from the Maa Mati Manush (TMC slogan) party. We are not scared of such threats.”
Later, before leaving the court premises, Kuntal said, “I will make only one request to Abhishek Banerjee. Take care of the safety of my wife and two children. We are being threatened in different ways.” Kuntal was also produced in the special CBI court in Kolkata’s Alipore.
Also, 13 persons, including former education minister Partha Chatterjee and ex-West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) senior officials Subiresh Bhattacharya and Shanti Prasad Sinha, were produced in the Alipore court on Thursday.
While being taken to the court, Partha Chatterjee said, “I speak from my knowledge and wisdom. No one teaches me. At least I don’t expect such comments from him (referring to Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari).”
He was responding to Suvendu’s reply to Partha’s allegation in the court on March 23 that he (Suvendu), BJP leader Dilip Ghosh and CPIM’s Sujan Chakraborty had approached him to get jobs for some people when he was the education minister.
Suvendu had claimed that Partha’s submission was “a weak screenplay”.
