Popular Tollywood actor George Baker,who joined the BJP recently began to throw tantrums at the Kolkata Press Club recently when the press conference that he was scheduled to attend did not begin on time. He was at wits end when he found out that the reason for the delay was because of his party president Venkaiah Naidu. As the BJP president arrived and addressed the press,Baker sat quietly along the sidelines only to take centre stage a little while later.

Prized catch

Last week,babus at the Writers’ Building had just finished their lunch and had settled for work,when word spread that onions were being sold at a lane adjacent to the Writers’ for Rs 40/kg. Sensing opportunity,the babus rushed to the spot and the ‘prized’ vegetable was sold out in minutes.

One for posterity

The mood in Writers’ Building is sombre and gloomy. This is hardly surprising given the fact that employees were going to bid adieu to the secretariat that housed 27 departments. Files are being packed,furniture is being shifted to the swanky new office at HRBC Building. For posterity,some employees were seen clicking photographs of their chambers.
