A male tiger,which was captured in the Pirkhali-I area of the Sunderbans late on Friday night,will be released into the deep core area of the Sunderban Tiger Reserve after being kept under observation for 24 hours.

Trapped tiger to be released
* A male tiger,which was captured in the Pirkhali-I area of the Sunderbans late on Friday night,will be released into the deep core area of the Sunderban Tiger Reserve after being kept under observation for 24 hours. Forest department officials said the trap was laid after locals reported that a tiger had been seen straying into the villages adjoining the Pirkhali forest.

Chikungunya fear grips Howrah
* A sudden spurt in Chikungunya has triggered a huge panic in Howrah district. Over 100 people are suspected to be suffering from Chikungunya at Domjur in Howrah,said state health officials. “We have sent 86 blood samples for test and received five reports,which are positive,” said an official.

No end to stalemate at Visva-Bharati
* The members of the executive committee (EC) of Visva-Bharati University met on Saturday over the ongoing crisis but failed to take a decision on the resignation demand of V-C Rajat Kanta Ray. “We discussed all the issues and agreed that normalcy must return to the University,” said an EC member.
