At least 21 people, including two minors, were injured in an LPG cylinder blast in a house in Garden Reach neighbourhood of Kolkata on Thursday evening, police said.
The blast led to fire in the house in Bichalighat Road locality, it is learnt. “Fire broke out on the ground floor of the house after the cylinder blast when occupants were preparing food at about 5:45pm. In all, 21 persons were injured,” an official said. All the injured received burn injuries, he added.
The police team was rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the incident. Also, fire tenders reached the locality and doused the blaze.
In the preliminary inquiry, it was found that fire broke out due to gas leakage.
Pieces of the LPG cylinder were found from the spot that was ring-fenced pending forensic examination.
