BJP leader and former MLA P Neeraja Reddy succumbed to injuries after her car overturned near Jogulamba Gadwal in Telangana on Sunday. Her driver, who was also injured in the accident, is reportedly out of danger.
Officials said a tyre-burst led to the accident, causing the car to veer off the highway and overturn late in the afternoon. Reddy, who was the Congress MLA from Alur in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district, was travelling from Hyderabad to Kurnool when the accident took place, officials said. She was rushed to a local hospital with severe head injuries, but died soon after.

Reddy first became an MLA in 2009 on a Congress ticket. She quit the party in 2014 and joined the YSRCP in 2019. However, the party did not give her a ticket or any position, prompting her to join the BJP which made her the in-charge of Alur constituency.
Neeraja’s husband was elected as an MLA from Patikonda in 1989 but was killed a few years later.
