The Gujarat Vigilance Commission (GVC) has raised concerns over government departments/boards/corporations submitting pending inquiry cases against accused employees for the commission’s recommendation, either in the last month of their superannuation or after it.
In its annual report for the year 2022, the Commission, though, has added that following repeated requests by it, the number of such cases has come down in the last three years. It expressed expectation that all such cases be submitted to the Commission in a timely manner without delay.
The GVC report for the period between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022 was tabled in the Assembly Thursday.
The report stated that it has repeatedly instructed the departments/boards/corporations to submit pending inquiry cases against their employees without delay and before three months of their superannuation.
Despite this, the report added there are total 56 such cases in 2022 where the concerned departments/board/corporations submitted the inquiry cases before the commission on the month of the employee’s superannuation or later. In some cases, there is a delay of over a year in submitting the inquiry cases to the GVC, it added.
The commission has also noted that timely submission of such inquiry cases is necessary so that it could be appropriately decided in a time-bound manner.
In its observation, however, the GVC has also noted that following its repeated requests, the number of such cases has gone down. According to the report, the number of such cases in 2018 was 98 and it went up to 123 in 2019. However, for the past three years, it has been on a decline — 69 cases in 2020, 66 cases in 2021 and 56 cases in 2022.
