Work starts on 3rd elevated stretch on Outer Ring Road

Sheila lays foundation stone for project.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit laid the foundation stone for the third elevated road on the Outer Ring Road between Madhuban Chowk to Mukarba Chowk,to make the road signal-free.

This corridor is part of a comprehensive scheme to make Vikaspuri to Wazirabad signal-free with seven flyovers and elevated roads expected to be constructed at a cost of Rs 2,200 crore. This project is expected to be completed by 2016.

The elevated road,whose foundation stone was laid on Saturday,will start after Pitampura T-junction and end at the railway overbridge at Mukarba Chowk. Commuters from Pitampura,Prashant Vihar,Rohini,Badli,Shalimar Bagh will benefit from the construction of this corridor.

“We have been concentrating on overall development of the city. The pace of development will be accelerated. There is no dearth of funds for development,especially in villages,’’ Dikshit said.

PWD minister Raj Kumar Chauhan said the Congress-led government was confident of its fourth win in Delhi,based on the development works taken up under Dikshit’s leadership.

The first elevated road (Vikaspuri to Meera Bagh) was inaugurated by Dikshit on February 26 and the second corridor from Mangolpuri to Madhuban Chowk was inaugurated on May 12.
