Woman thwarts robbery attempt

A middle-aged woman thwarted the robbery attempt of four miscreants posing as policemen on Games security duty on Friday. The incident took place at Sujan Singh Park around 11 am,where four persons were posing as policemen in plainclothes.

Guddi Devi (48),a resident of government quarters in Lodhi Colony,was taking her daughter and granddaughter to a doctor,when they were stopped by two men,a police officer said. “They told the women that due to the Games no one was allowed to wear jewellery and asked them to keep it in their purse.”

As the women took off their jewellery,a robber snatched their purse and tried to escape on a motorcycle. But Devi sat on its mud-guard and held the handle. Fearing trouble,three robbers fled on another bike. “The fourth abandoned the vehicle and fled,” the police said.
