NGO vs NGO*51-yr-old rescued,wife sold jewellery to pay ransom,friend called cops
A 21-year-old woman and three alleged accomplices were arrested on the charge of abducting an NGO owner from the Palam area of South West Delhi,police said. The victims wife sold her jewellery and paid half the ransom amount,Rs 7.5 lakh,until a friend alerted police which rescued him from the Mahipalpur area of South Delhi.
Two of the three accused Mohit,a former bouncer at a discotheque,and Deepak are relatives of Kishan Solanki alias Billoo Pahalwan who was running an NGO,Jeevan Ek Prayas,where they worked. Police said the third accused Virender was also a bouncer at a mall in Saraswati Vihar.
The man police rescued was identified as Kishan Lal (51) who once worked at Solankis NGO and had floated his own NGO in Vikaspuri recently. Purnima,the woman who was arrested,knew Lal from the time they worked at Solankis NGO,police said.
On August 30,Purnima called Lal at night and said she wanted to be dropped at a friends place. As Lal knew her, he agreed to drop her. Purnima instead took him to a secluded spot where her three accomplices were waiting and they abducted Lal at gunpoint. He was taken to Mahipalpur where they had already taken a room on rent. They made Lal phone his family and asked them to pay Rs 20 lakh. Purnimas share was Rs 50,000, said A K Ojha,DCP (South West).
Police said Lals wife sold her jewellery and his two sons paid Rs 7.5 lakh as ransom amount. The accused did not relent and insisted on payment of the remaining amount. It was then that his two sons turned to his fathers friend for help. The friend alerted us. We rescued him on September 1, Ojha said.
Police have recovered part of the ransom amount from the house of Mohit. They also seized a gold chain with locket,two country-made pistols and nine cartridges.
